Quartz is a manufactured product made of stone aggregate and polymers compressed under high pressure. It has the look of natural stone but requires less work to maintain. Quartz has consistent colors and patterns and is a nonporous material, so it will not need routine sealing and resealing. Quartz countertops are one of the best man-made engineered stone countertops, formed by combining about 90% ground quartz (sand a natural hard mineral) with about 8-10% plastic resins, polymers, and pigments. This forms a very hard granite-like surface. Quartz countertops with the resin binders are not porous and do not absorb spills.
